Places to visit

Here is a list of of our recommended places to visit while staying in Queenstown

  • Queenstown Gardens – a quick walk down the hill will lead you to the beautiful Queenstown Gardens. A gentle walk along the lake will give you many great photograph opportunities.
  • Arrowtown – a historic mining town 20 minutes drive away. Walk down the main street and admire the quaint architecture. The Arrowtown museum is worth a visit to learn about the history of the area.
  • Glenorchy – best place to go horse riding.
  • Moke Lake – a great place to get away from the crowds, where you can swim, walk, cycle and even go for a horse ride.
  • Wanaka – another Lake town approximately an hours drive away. The maze at Puzzling World is a must stop for those with children or the child within us all. You can get there by either driving over the crown range where we recommend you stop at the top for a photograph/ selfie. Or drive through Cromwell where you can pick up the excellent local fruit. During the appropriate season, think Apricots, greengages, nectarines, peaches & cherries in the summer, and apples & pears during the autumn.
  • Milford Sound & Doubtful Sound – a must visit for the breathtaking wilderness.
    • Tip: we recommend taking one way by air to make the most of the daytrip
    • Tip 2: if you can spare the time during your visit, we highly recommend the overnight Doubtful Sound trip by Real Journeys
  • Gibbston Valley and Bannockburn for their excellent wineries
