Michelin guide for Queenstown

In the inaugural Michelin Guide for Aotearoa New Zealand, Queenstown claimed historic honors. The city is home to the country’s only two-star restaurant, alongside two exceptional one-star dining rooms and several Bib Gourmand selections.

Here is the official Michelin Guide Queenstown list:

Two MICHELIN Stars

  • Essence by ROKI Collection: Located at 2 Brunswick Street, this spot made history as the country’s only two-star establishment. It offers degustation and à la carte menus blending New Zealand produce with European culinary artistry, led by Director of Culinary Paul Froggatt.

One MICHELIN Star

  • Amisfield: Located just 20 minutes from town near Lake Hayes, this rustic stone winery offers immersive, multi-course tasting menus driven by wild game and seasonal ingredients from Central Otago.
  • Rātā: Located on Ballarat Street, this modern, wood-paneled space is helmed by internationally acclaimed chef Josh Emett and offers bold, season-driven modern New Zealand fare finessed by local ingredients.
  • Sherwood: Located on Frankton Road, Sherwood serves seasonal, produce-forward dishes focusing heavily on sustainable cooking.

MICHELIN Bib Gourmand

(Recognizing restaurants that offer exceptionally good food at moderate prices)

  • The Cow Pizza & Spaghetti House (Queenstown)
  • Sundays (Queenstown)
  • Aosta (Located nearby in Arrowtown)

MICHELIN Selected Restaurants

For those looking to explore even further, the official guide’s selected restaurants include:

  • Botswana Butchery
  • Jervois Steak House
  • Rodd & Gunn The Lodge
  • The Dining Room (at Rosewood Matakauri)
  • Nest
  • Soda
  • Toast & Oak
